KUCHING: A former state youth footballer (Under 19) turned policeman, Iranaeus Casimir Sura was awarded the Best Overall Training award at the 03/2019 series the Male Constable Training Passing Out Parade ceremony at the Kuching Police Training Centre (Pulapol) yesterday.
According to Iranaeus, his determination to develop his talent in football inspired him to undergo the six-month training.
He added that he was grateful for the support given by both of his parents, especially his mother, in taking up a career as a policeman.
“It has been my ambition since as child to become a member of the police force and continuing the legacy of my father who is a police officer.
“If I were given the opportunity, I would like to join the PDRM football team to contribute to the development of the team, “said the 19-year-old from Serian.
Iranaeus joined the Sarawak youth football team since primary school until he completed his Malaysian Certificate of Examination (SPM), He ended his contract with the under-19 youth football team in March this year.
Chosen as the Best External Training and Academic Best Trainees were Lufhi Iazat Khalilullah and Kajendra Rao Appalaraju respectively.
Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) director, CP Datuk Sri Rosli Ab Rahman said all 798 trainees successfully completed the six-month training.
He stressed that Bukit Aman (training division) is constantly reviewing and improving its programmes to ensure that they were of world class standard.
“In facing challenges in the advanced globalisation era, PDRM needs to be more competitive and enhance its reputation as an efficient and effective security entity.
“For that purpose, it is important that PDRM develops a first-class mindset in achieving world-class police services,” he said in his speech at the ceremony.
Also present were state Crime Prevention and Community Security chief SAC Datuk Muhammed Hasbullah Ali and Kuching Pulapol Kuching Commandant SAC Abdul Latiff Yunus.
