KUALA LUMPUR : It was the many stories he heard about the 1MDB that pushed the Minister of Entrepreneur Development, who is also Alor Gajah Member of Parliament, Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof to get into politics.
The 61-year-old engineer from Masjid Tanah was unhappy about how the rakyat’s money was allegedly being siphoned off by the previous government and working with politicans like Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin convinced him that there was a dire need to bring change to the country. At that point, Muhyiddin had jus t founded Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM).
He was the party’s president and Mohd Redzuan decided to join him.
His hard work did not go unnoticed and it was a matter of time before he was appointed as a member of Bersatu’s Supreme Leader Council (MPT) and the head of the party’s Melaka Leadership Board.
‘’More surprising was the fact that I was fielded as a Pakatan Harapan candidate and won the seat’’, said Mohd Redzuan or fondly called Pak Wan about his victory in the 14th General Election (GE14).
After earning his engineering degree from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom, he returned home to work at an American company that was based in Kuala Lumpur. He joined Petronas in 1999 before deciding to set up his own business.
In the last GE14, Mohd Redzuan beat Datuk Wong Nai Chee (BNMCA) and Mohammad Nazree Mohammad Aris (PAS), with a majority of 6,980 votes in a threecornered fight. Mohd Redzuan garnered 29,330 votes beating the MCA and PAS candidates by 22,350 votes and 6,135 votes respectively. – Bernama
