PUTRAJAYA: Seven years working at the CheeseU cafe in Kota Tinggi, Johor, from a waiter to the rank of a manager, gave Kharul Azman A. Karim the experience he needed to run his own CheeseU outlet, making him the owner of the first CheeseU brand kiosk.

A fisherman’s son from Johor, Kharul Azman, 30, opened the first CheeseU kiosk in Precinct 2 here last Jan 22.

“After taking the Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) examination, I went to study business at Cosmopoint College. I was determined to open my own business because I want to provide a better life for my family and Alhamdulillah, I have been able to realise my dream,” he said when met by Bernama recently.

The fourth child of five siblings, Kharul Azman attributed his success to his former employer, Thomas Ang, the CheeseU founder himself.

“He was the one who motivates me, always giving me advice, and also provided the financial help for me to start my own business,” he added.

His CheeseU kiosk operates daily from 8 am to 8 pm and serves cheesecake, nasi lemak, ‘chicken chop’, sandwiches, coffee and tea.

Kharul Azman is a participant of the Federal Territories Ministry’s Anak Muda Kota Entrepreneur Development Programme, organised with the cooperation of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Putrajaya Corporation (PPj), Federal Territories Foundation (YWP) and other related agencies.

Kharul Azman, who has three employees to help him at the kiosk, said business was good as more and more people are aware of the CheeseU kiosk.

“Our customers can dine-in or buy take-away,” he said and thanked PPj for providing the tables and chairs at his kiosk.

CheeseU currently has four cafes, three in Johor and one in Bangi, Selangor, and its central kitchen is in Kluang, Johor.

The CheeseU kiosk in Precinct 2 is the first kiosk under the CheeseU brand.

Meanwhile, Ang said the CheeseU franchise was an affordable franchise involving a capital as low as RM100,000.
