KUCHING: There are no cases of medical frontliners being threatened for speaking up regarding the Covid-19 vaccination plan in Sarawak, said state Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

Dr Chin said he has checked with the Health director-general’s office in Putrajaya regarding the issue.

“The office’s special officer said it was a non-issue in Sarawak, and only happened in Kelantan, Serdang in Selangor, and at the ministry level,” he said.

He said this in response to a recent media statement made by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.

In his statement, Yii said that the government and Health Ministry (MoH) should not threaten and instil fear among medical frontliners for speaking up.

He also stated that MoH has warned its staff not to make comments on the vaccination plan or post pictures on social media.

The Bandar Kuching MP said MoH should look into the allegations seriously rather than going after its staff members who made the complaints.
