KUCHING: The handover of the RM50 million infrastructure projects to Sarawak and Sabah is indeed a practical thing to do.
Federal Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said that this will ensure the development agenda that was delayed can be continued.
“Some of the projects have been approved previously but it cannot be done due to the changes of the federal government,” she said.
On the other hand, although it is a good move for Sarawak, she felt that the federal government could handover more of the allocation.
“However, we can still apply for the additional allocation during half of the term later.
“From there, we can evaluate whether the RM50 million is enough or not within the half year period,” she said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.
She then added that she would like to see related ministries that implement the project to comply with what that have been approved.
“I am also confident that Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will perform his duty to his best pertaining to this matter.
“As for the unity government, whether they are being fair or not, we will see and wait for the real implementation,” she said.
Earlier, it was announced that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had allowed Sarawak and Sabah to decide on the implementation of any infrastructure projects under RM50 million in both states.
