Further remand for woman linked to suitcase murder

KUCHING: The 56-year-old woman linked to the murder of the owner of a well-known tailoring shop at Tun Jugah mall here has been remanded for four more days.

Magistrate Shukri Mohtar granted the remand order until Thursday (Aug 1) to aid police in their investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

State CID chief Denis Leong on Tuesday said police had established the identity of the dead man as Wong Sie Tuang. His body was found in a suitcase on a riverbank in Kampung Pangkalan, Bau recently.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the woman, who is the second suspect, was arrested on July 20 at around 9.30om in Stampin by a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team from the state headquarters.

On Saturday, the first suspect, a 28-year-old man, was remanded for five more days starting from July 28.

He was placed under custody after he came to the Kuching District Police Headquarters on the night the body was discovered (July 19).

He was subsequently arrested following an interrogation. He is believed to be the last person accompanying Wong inside a vehicle before the latter disappeared.

Poge also revealed that the police were still tracking other suspects in connection with the murder case.
