Kolej Laila Taib (KLT), located in Sibu, has always been committed to providing quality education at a reasonable cost to Sarawakians.

KLT firmly believes in the importance of education as it has the power to better students’ lives.

KLT offers up to 100 percent scholarships to Sarawakians who meet the award criteria in order to make education more accessible to all.

In 2021, Yayasan Sarawak (the Sarawak Foundation) assumed control of KLT. By enrolling at a college that is fully owned by Yayasan Sarawak, students can benefit intellectually and financially.

KLT is uniquely positioned as one of Sarawak’s primary producers of human resources in the Built Environment, Engineering, and Business fields.

It offers diploma programmes in a variety of fields, including Accounting, Business Management, Architecture, Interior Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

With a diploma, students have the option of starting a job or attending university.

With the goal of ensuring that the college’s programmes are industry relevant and that students are job ready when they graduate, KLT has appointed an Industrial Advisor as well as an external examiner for each of the diploma programmes.

This project aims to improve the quality of its programmes and provide staff and students with industry updates.

Each of the KLT programmes organises educational trips as an exposure to real-world industries, to obtain firsthand experiences, and to increase learning among students.

In order to improve students’ learning experiences, KLT is also actively forming relationships with more industries and institutions.

It is believed that coordinated efforts between institutions of higher learning and various industry sectors are essential to prevent skill mismatches and will help students be equipped with both the technical competencies and the professional skills needed in today’s working environment.

Additionally, the purpose of industrial placement during diploma studies is to bridge the gap between programme outcomes and workplace requirements.

Students will gain real life exposure, develop their skills and knowledge and have the opportunity to solve real-life issues through industrial placement.

Students from Sarawak who have been accepted to KLT can apply online for an education loan at www.yaysansarawak.org.my (Online Services > Online Application).
