KUCHING: Sarawak’s rhythmic gymnastics team faced a challenging day at the individual All-Around final in the Rhythmic Gymnastics event at the ongoing 21st Malaysia Games as the athletes were unable to secure any medals in the individual final on Sunday.

Sarawak’s gymnast, Jenevieve Tan Su Qi delivered commendable performances across all apparatuses, the hoop, ball, clubs, and ribbon during the event at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Despite giving her all graceful executions, she ended the competition with a total score of 71.450 placing her at seventh place.

Her teammate, Lyna Kho Li Xiang also performed with determination but ended the competition with a final score of 64.800 placing her at tenth place.

The individual all-around gold medal was claimed by Cassidy Tan Jia Xin from Federal Territory with a total score of 104.900, followed by Nur Zharifah Wong Rudy Kurniawan for silver medal and Dhaffatul Nurbaiti Harman for bronze.

Earlier, only the top 15 gymnasts from each state, who accumulated the highest points across the four apparatuses advanced to the final.

Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and political secretary to the Premier Kho Teck Wan were also seen during the Games.
