THE Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Ministry will focus on ‘futurising the youth’ starting next year.
Its Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the ministry will be equipping youth with essential skills for a rapidly evolving world.
“The Futurise Youth@AI Initiative will train over 500 youth in Sarawak with artificial intelligence (AI) skills, preparing them for careers in technology and supporting the growth of Sarawak’s high-tech sector,” he said in his ministerial winding-up speech on Tuesday.
He added that his ministry has formed new partnerships to empower youth as drivers of positive community change, focusing on education, technology and entrepreneurship.
“Key collaborations include SOSEK-MALINDO, BIMP-EAGA, Malaysia Armed Forces, Sarawak Tourism Board, and other local organisations.
“My ministry will continue working with government agencies, communities and NGOs to implement inclusive activities aligned with national policies,” he said.
He also said the ministry is committed to empowering youth in leading green initiatives, focusing on sustainability.
“These initiatives aim to involve youth in driving sustainability and creating a greener future,” he said.
Abdul Karim earlier said that the ministry has introduced 52 youth development programmes, impacting over 15,000 youth across Sarawak.
“New initiatives like ‘Rakan Muzik Orkestra Belia Sarawak’ and MYSED Red Ribbon provide inclusive resources, support and opportunities, focusing on education, health, leadership and digital citizenship to empower youth and address inequalities,” he said.
