KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian expressed his disappointment with a small minority of uncivilised citizens who carelessly litter.

The minister posted a picture of a garbage collection centre at the junction of Kampung Tengah Singai in Batu Kawa here that was overflowing with rubbish on his Facebook account on Wednesday.

“Every few months, this scene repeats in various parts of Batu Kawa!” he said in his post.

With that post, he invited members of the public to share their thoughts and Zasran Abdullah said the issue also exists in Matang Jaya.

Tiong Kheng Kueh said Sarawakians should learn from Singaporeans on not only how to properly dispose their rubbish, but to also change overall attitude towards the subject matter.

Wen Ni Tiong meanwhile suggested that there should be regular waste management visits at least once a week by the relevant authorities as well as increasing efforts in educating the public.
