BINTULU: The Gawai Dayak celebration not only promotes tolerance within the Dayak community but also fosters unity among different ethnic groups.
Jepak assemblyman, Datuk Talib Zulpilip, said that the celebration serves as a platform to strengthen community relations, particularly between the Dayak community and other communities in the state and the country.
With this in mind, Talib hoped that the unity and harmonious atmosphere enjoyed by the diverse ethnic groups in Sarawak will continue to thrive on its solid foundation.
“It is crucial to nurture the existing harmony among our communities in order to facilitate the government’s smooth implementation of state development,” he said during the Ngabang Gawai ceremony at several longhouses in his constituency on Friday (June 2).
“People are urged to cooperate with the leadership and refrain from supporting groups that seek to divide and disrupt our harmonious coexistence,” he added.
Additionally, he advised residents to directly approach him or his Service Centre with any complaints, problems, or requests they may have.
