BINTULU: The people are capable of evaluating the achievements of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) since the party governed the state, says Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
In expressing his confidence, he said voters need to be wise in carrying out their responsibility to choose the government that will manage Sarawak for the next five years.
He explained that a large mandate on November 19 (polling day) will allow him to assist the state government under GPS to continue the struggle to defend the rights of Sarawak as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
The five-term Bintulu incumbent believes that if the mandate is handed back to the local party coalition in the 15th General Election (GE15), efforts to defend the rights that have been eroded can continue in a more progressive manner.
“Only elected representatives from local political parties are able to clearly understand how to govern and pursue the aspirations demanded by the people of Sarawak.
“GPS continues to implement a more holistic and inclusive development for every resident including in rural and interior areas.
“GPS’ big victory in GE15 will double the effort to bring the voice of the state government to Parliament to be given due attention by relevant parties.
“One of them can be seen through the state government’s efforts to regain state rights that were eroded in MA63,” he said while speaking in a programme with voters in Jepak today (Nov 7).
