KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Alexander Nanta Linggi defended the Kapit parliamentary seat with a majority of 12,402 votes.
He secured 16,522 votes in total, defeating his opponents from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Pangkas Unggang (4,120 votes) and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak, Robert Saweng (1,357 votes).
Nanta previously served for five terms since 1998 where he had three landslide victories and won two terms unopposed.
Meanwhile, GPS’ Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong retained his Hulu Rajang parliamentary seat and will be serving his second term as the MP with a majority of 7,505 votes.
He gathered 15,456 votes and defeated Abun Sui Anyit from Pakatan Harapan who received 7,951 votes.
