KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) members should next look at achieving outstanding results in the upcoming 15th general election now that the party’s 15th triennial general meeting is done and dusted.

Recalling the last state election where PBB won all contested seats, Deputy president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan noted that the win proved that the party is the main pillar in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“We must continue this tradition of excellence in the next GE,” he said, adding, “The unity, strength and resilience that we are building will determine the future of PBB and GPS in the context of being the stabiliser and king-maker of the national political landscape.”

Awang Tengah said many more issues regarding Sarawak will continue to be fought in line with the spirit and aspirations of the 1963 Malaysia Agreement.

“We demand our rights as a form of struggle that will continue until we achieve what is desired,” he added.

Towards this end he said the TGM was a platform to discuss issues involving the party’s interests and struggles.

According to Awang Tengah the overwhelming victory in the last state election was a benchmark in terms of being an example of healthy political culture practices among political parties in Sarawak.

“It also shows that the leadership of PBB and GPS led by the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is accepted by all walks of life from various races and religions in the state.

“This victory should be used as an impetus to invigorate the fighting spirit and intensify efforts to maintain the welfare and well-being of the community as well as improving services to the people,” Awang Tengah said.

He also stated that PBB should leverage on the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 as an initiative to meet the greater development agenda, which is in line with the TGM’s theme, ‘Ensuring Stability, Prosperity and Glory of Sarawak’.
