GEDONG: Gedong is poised to become a model district despite being a full district for just three years with detailed development plans already in place and implementation well underway.

In stating this, Special Representative to the Premier Datuk Seri Mohd Naroden Majais said he is confident in the district’s future, citing strong governance and the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who also serves as the assemblyman.

“Although the progress may not be visible yet, work has already begun The Premier has a clear vision for Gedong, and with strong governance through the Gedong District Council and other government agencies, the district will undoubtedly become a model for others,” said Naroden.

He said this during the Gedong-level Maulidur Rasul Parade at Datuk Patinggi Ali Gedong Hall here on Sunday.

He emphasised the importance of the local community understanding and supporting the Premier’s vision, aligning with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

“We in Gedong must be grateful and thankful. We are also united, and I believe that with the leadership of Abang Johari as our top leader in Sarawak, and our representative in this district of Gedong, there is a very clear vision and mission for development.

“As we witness everything happening around us, we must change the way we look at things, the way we think, and consequently, our mindset.

” This is very important so that we are able to enjoy being part of this progress and not just remain spectators. We must move forward in line with the changes happening in our area,” he added.

Naroden also highlighted several key development projects already approved by the Premier which include a new, fully air-conditioned Dewan Datuk Pertinggi Ali Baru, expected to be completed in the next two to three years, an upgraded RGC football field with artificial grass similar to Barcelona’s pitch, and a new wet and dry market near the Pentong field, strategically located near a new housing estate under construction.
