SERIAN: Gedong Unity have advanced to the semi-finals of the Liga Serian 2024 after eliminating Anhex FC 2-1 in a quarter-final match at the Serian Sports Complex yesterday (Oct 13).
Mohd. Asrullah Drahman and Mohd. Firdaus Abdul Rahim shone under the guidance of head coach Rozaini Romainor, scoring the goals that led to the victory.
“We are grateful to have overcome the challenge of the last eight, and I commend all the players for their achievement,” Rozaini told Sarawak Tribune.
He noted that the team adapted exceptionally well to the strategy used during the match.
Rozaini acknowledged the immense pressure his players faced throughout the 90 minutes, especially considering that the opposing team were also strengthened by many experienced players.
However, he pointed out that his team managed to navigate the extraordinary challenges posed by Anhex FC.
Rozaini expressed hope that his players can maintain the excellent momentum for the upcoming semi-finals.
“We hope to keep this outstanding performance in the semi-final match,” he added.
He also indicated that he would make the best use of the available break to refine every position within the team.
Additionally, X-Movent progressed to the semi-finals after winning 4-2 against Balai Ringin FC through a penalty shootout, following a 2-2 draw in regular time.
The last two slots for the semi-finals will be determined this weekend, with four teams competing for these crucial spots.
Two more quarter-final matches will take place this Sunday; TBS 23 will face Black Rovers at 1 pm, and SPFC will take on Medic FC at 3.30 pm
