BETONG: 600 litres of diesel have been supplied to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nanga Lawih because of the Layar State Assembly (DUN) Service Centre’s initiative to address the problem of lack of fuel due to the failure of contractors to supply diesel to the school since last week.
According to an officer of DUN Layar service centre, Horace Entoi, SK Nanga Lawih was one of the schools affected by the failure of contractors to supply diesel.
“Therefore, Layar State Assemblyman, Gerald Rentap Jabu ordered 600 litres of diesel to be supplied to the school.
“The first 200 litres were delivered on Monday and today, we are adding 400 litres which are expected to be used within one week only.
“The fuel was transported by a four-wheel drive vehicle during the one-hour journey from Betong,” he said when asked by reporters about the matter near here yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Betong District Education Office (PPD) is expected to apply again for the electricity supply to be connected to the school via a public grid connection. SK Nanga Lawih, located in Ulu Spak, has 66 pupils, 17 teachers and nine support group staff.
The school, which was founded on January 1, 1975, has seven classrooms, seven quarters and a school dorm.
