KUCHING: COVID-19 patients are advised to proceed to the nearest clinic or hospital for health assessment to find out whether they are eligible for oral antiviral drug.
Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said a lot of people nowadays will only stay home and self-isolated if they are COVID-19 positive.
“But I encourage you to proceed to the nearest clinic be it private or public or even hospitals.
“Because since January this year, Sarawak government works together with federal government and we have oral anti COVID-19 drug called Paxlovid available, which must be taken very early part of infection. Is no use only when you become more severe,” he said in a video posted on his Facebook page yesterday.
Dr Sim said it is best to take the medication at a very early stage.
“The idea is take it very early so that you remain in category one and not to proceed to category two, three and four.
“Therefore, I encourage you, please go to the nearest clinic so that to see you are eligible for Paxlovid which is the oral anti-COVID medication,” he said.
