MIRI: Two longhouse residents of Long Ikang, Baram received a compensation of RM11,000 each from Allianz Insurance Company recently. On July 26, a fire destroyed the kitchens of three units at the 74-door longhouse. Fortunately, swift action taken by residents prevented further damages.
Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau lauded the decision made by the two residents to insure their property. “Unfortunately, the third resident did not have a policy,” he said. Dennis said as an assemblyman, he did his best to encourage those in his constituency to get their property insured.
“We never know and can’t predict what will happen in the future, but we must be alert and prepare to protect your property from risks,” he said.
“It is time for longhouse folk to change their mindset (about insurance).” The special policy for longhouses from Allianz costs only RM75 annually or RM6.25 per month. Those in the Telang Usan constituency who want to buy the ‘Allianz KampungKu Insurance’ policy can get the forms from PBB N77 Luak Bay Miri.
