KUCHING: Face masks are not just the new normal but they are also turning into fashion accessories.
In addition to their rising sales in the market, face mask accessories such as lanyards are also a trend nowadays.
According to face mask lanyards maker Christina Maribal, since face masks are mandatory, she is inspired to produce this accessory.
“Apart from that, I also see a lot of people who often pull their face masks under their chins or put them on the table while they are eating — this will definitely tarnish their face masks.
“At the same time, my husband also suggested that I make glasses chain and from there, the idea to produce face mask lanyards, which can also be used for glasses, arose,” said the Lorem founder.
She added that she decided to market her face mask lanyards after many of her family members and close friends began ordering them.
Established in 2011, Lorem also produces various beaded accessories using the concept of the Rungus ethnic.
Apart from face mask lanyards, Christina, who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), also produces beaded earrings, necklaces as well as bracelets.
“Customers can also choose the patterns that they want according to their tastes,” said the Kudat, Sabah-born.
Further elaborating, she said although there are a few who think her lanyards are very expensive, compared to the time and energy invested, they are still offered at affordable prices.
“I also upload tutorials on how to make bead craft on my YouTube channel CurryRinabus.
“This tutorial is perfect for individuals who are interested in learning bead craft but do not have the time to attend classes or workshops,” she said.
