KUCHING: Property owners in the state are reminded to obtain their strata titles from Housing Development Corporation (HDC) as soon as they have settled their housing loans and management fees.
Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian advised property owners to be serious in obtaining the strata title to avoid future problems.
“Property owners, first of all, need to settle their loans with the bank and management arrears.
“Once these are settled, they can acquire their strata title through HDCat any time,” he said when met at the handing over of 28 strata titles from the State Land and Survey Department to the house owners of Taman Sepakat Housing Flats.
These owners who have already paid their loans and are free from any arrears, received their titles at Taman Sepakat mosque in Demak Laut today.
“With the strata title, owners can sell or mortgage their properties since they have full control over their respective units.
“So, I hope owners who have settled their loans but still haven’t received their titles will get in touch HRD office,” he added.
He also expressed that the state government has been working hard to ensure flat owners receive their strata titles without any delay.
“We are fortunate to have Abang Jo (Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg) to lead GPS, who has been kind enough to allocate RM11 million with which to process issuance of 15,000 strata titles throughout Sarawak,” he said.
Among those presents were HDC chairman Datuk Dr Abang Abdul Rauf Abang Zain and Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
