KUCHING: As a precaution, Sarawakians should have their umbrellas and raincoats ready to brave the rain this week.
This is because Sarawak will still be experiencing heavy rain due to the south-west monsoon season. The dry weather would not be expected to be experienced that frequently.
Based on the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) website’s latest weather forecast, several areas in Sarawak have been issued a thunderstorm warning with heavy rainfall and strong winds.
The affected areas include Betong (Saratok and Kabong), Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit (Song, Kapit and Belaga), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh) and Limbang.
However, the rest of the inland areas in the state are expected to face isolated rain and thunderstorms on Monday (Sept 21), Tuesday (Sept 22), Friday (Sept 25) and Saturday (Sept 26) from morning to evening.
Dry weather is only expected on Wednesday (Sept 23), Thursday (Sept 24), and Sunday (Sept 27) in the morning. Isolated rain and thunderstorms are presumed to happen from the afternoon till evening.
Apart from that, this week’s weather temperature is also forecasted to reach a minimum and maximum level of 24 to 33 degree Celsius, respectively.
Info pertaining to the weather forecast can be obtained at the department’s website (www.met.gov.my).
