MUKAH: The long-awaited proposed Giatmara Mukah project here is gradually taking shape.
A survey by New Sarawak Tribune today (March 9) discovered that parts of the project’s ground structures have been completed.
It is located at KM7, Jalan Mukah-Oya some 200 metres into the access road leading to Politeknik Mukah, Kolej Laila Taib which is currently under construction and Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Mukah Campus.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob officiated at the ground-breaking ceremony of the project during the state election campaign here in 2016; he was the Rural and Regional Development Minister at that time.
According to the signboard, the project components comprises an administration block, workshops (two), surau, transits (two), security post and a waste disposal centre.
The project’s client is Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), while Sibu-based contractor Akmal Enterprise has been entrusted to deliver it.
The architect for the project is Adesign Architects Sdn Bhd, Kuching, while Perunding Tra (77426), Kuching is involved in civil and structural works, and Jurutera Azan Bersekutu Sdn Bhd (Kuching) and Perunding Ukur Bahan Asmy (Kuching) will handle the mechanical and electrical works and quantity surveying, respectively.
Giatmara electrical wiring trainees and the administration staff are currently occupying a rented commercial building near the town, while the welding technology trainees are using the old Giatmara premises at Jalan Pam Stesen here.
