KUCHING: The 6th Sarawak Community Innovation and Engineering Convention (SCIENCE) concluded successfully, showcasing a surge in female participation and a diverse range of innovative projects.

Organised by The Learning Curve and powered by Sarawak Energy, the event gathered 165 students from 22 schools across Sarawak.

The focus this year was on hydropower, a key renewable energy source in the state.

Students competed in hands-on challenges, such as designing and coding remote-controlled water boats, or ‘Ro-Boats.’

This competition was part of Sarawak Energy’s partnership with the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation’s (SDEC) Science on Wheels programme, which has engaged over 500 students across the state’s STEM communities.

“This year marked a significant milestone, with female students outnumbering males for the first time in SCIENCE’s history,” said Sarawak Energy’s Vice President for Corporate Shared Services, Peing Tajang in a statement.

St. Joseph’s International School clinched the championship title in the secondary school category, while Lodge Primary School emerged victorious in the primary division.
