MIRI: A female student sustained severe injuries after she allegedly jumped about 10 metres down from a shopping mall in the city centre last Tuesday (Nov 3).

Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) officer, Captain (PA) Usman Harto said four APM personnel were despatched to the scene after an emergency call on the incident was received around 10.10am.  

The team arrived to find the victim lying on a parking ramp area slope.

“The victim was in a semi-conscious state and suffered severe injuries to both her heels.

“The team installed a cervical collar and bandaged the victim’s wounds before rushing her to Miri Hospital for immediate treatment.” he said adding that no identification document was found on the student.

 Meanwhile, Miri district police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed that the police had received a police report regarding the incident.

According to him, the victim is 18 years old and is a Form Five student in a secondary school.
