KUCHING: The Gita Police Station located near Jalan Matang, here, has been temporarily closed to the public starting today (Aug 19) for 14 days.

District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, who confirmed this, said the station will be opening its doors to the public on Sept 2.

He said the station was closed to allow for sanitisation works to be carried out in view of the current Covid-19 pandemic situations.

“The Gita Police Station is temporarily closed for sanitation works.

“However, security under the administration of the Gita Police Station will continue to operate and any related arrangements can be made at other nearby police stations,” he said when contacted today.

It is understood that members of the Gita Police Station were instructed to undergo Covid-19 screenings.

They were also instructed to undergo quarantine under Section 15 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
