PADAWAN: A village chief here has urged those who want to help the needy to contact him first.

“I am grateful the villagers get help from concerned parties who are willing to come to our village to hand out supplies and essential items to ease their burden,” said Kampung Semban village head Sagen Adan

“It is not that I am not happy when certain parties give supplies to a selected few, even to those who have everything.
But please make sure that priority is given to the needy,” he said.

He revealed that when only a selected few were helped, other villagers were unhappy and felt left out.

“And I feel wrong for not taking action. As the village head, I have no problem if there are people coming in to help but please make sure that the needy get the priority,” he said.

“I am also responsible for identifying those who need the most help so that they will not be left out.”

He was thankful to Persatuan Pembangunan Insan Sarawak (PPIS), Lions Club Kuching City and Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Kuching Branch for handing out food aid and school bags to children at Kampung Semban hall yesterday.

He reiterated that he wanted to make sure that really needy villagers were not left out of any charity or assistance programme.
