KUCHING: International experts in the field of hydrogen have expressed admiration for Sarawak’s advancements in the hydrogen economy.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg shared this during the Sarawak Premier Department’s Gawai Dayak Celebration at the State Legislative Assembly building today (June 12).
“Right now, we have a lot of international guests in Kuching because they are looking at our potential in the new economy, particularly in hydrogen.
“They are experts in that field and they are quite surprised by what Sarawak has accomplished in the hydrogen economy.
“Hence, they are taking the state as an example, where the government is committed to reducing carbon emissions and preserving the new economy as part of our development agenda,” he said.
Abang Johari pointed out that while this is a significant achievement for Sarawak, there is still much more to be done.
He expressed confidence that with the spirit of Gawai, the government can continue to develop Sarawak towards a new economy, a brighter future, and a livelier Gawai celebration in the coming years.
“This Gawai festivity is actually a celebration of thanksgiving to God for the success that we have achieved in this spirit of a good harvest.
“So far, Sarawak has had a good harvest. Last year, Sarawak’s revenue hit a record high of RM13.3 billion, which was a good harvest for us.
“Hopefully, this year we are going to have the same or better harvest than last year. This harvest is based on the hard work done by us from the top down to the bottom,” he said.
Also present were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, State Deputy Secretary for Administration Datuk Buckland Bangik, as well as Ministers and Deputy Ministers.
