KUCHING: The second edition of the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 is set to take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Nov 28-30.
With the theme ‘Innovations and Transformation in Islamic Economies,’ the three-day forum aims to foster stronger connections and partnerships among countries in the Muslim world, particularly in the Middle East, Asia, and beyond.
The event will encompass a series of engaging activities, including keynote speeches by prominent Muslim world leaders, plenary sessions, workshops, an awards ceremony and a gala dinner.
GMBF 2023, jointly organised by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, and Global One, serves as a platform for participants to connect, collaborate and contribute to critical issues within the global Islamic business community.
“Through the forum, governments, corporations, international organisations, investors and civil society can convene to discuss, deliberate and debate these key issues.
“The forum will provide insights into the latest trends in various sectors and act as an ideal platform to bridge connections between the Muslim world and the non-Muslim community,” it said in a statement issued Saturday (Sept 23).
The forum’s opening ceremony on Nov 28 will be graced by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
On the second day of the forum, plenary sessions will commence, covering topics such as ‘Challenges and Opportunities in the New Economy – Digital Technology & Green Energy Driving Future Growth,’ ‘Innovation in the Muslim World,’ and ‘Innovations & Transformations in Agriculture and Food Security – Moving Forward.’
Distinguished speakers, including Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain, Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, among others, will share their insights during these sessions.
The third day of the forum will feature a special session on Business & Investment Opportunities in Sarawak, with a focus on tourism, digital economy, manufacturing, agriculture, and oil and gas.
Additionally, plenary sessions and a parallel workshop on the halal economy are scheduled.
Esteemed speakers, including Magellan Management CEO Ebrahim Patel from South Africa, Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum president Taha Ayhan from Turkiye, and Halal Development Corporation Malaysia CEO Hairol Ariffein Sahari, among others, will contribute their expertise to these sessions.
