KUCHING: Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom has called on scout leaders to embrace technological advancements, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), as a tool to prepare for future challenges.

The Sarawak Scout Council chief noted that it is important to align scouting initiatives with the Sarawak government’s youth development vision.

“As now our daily life is very much influenced by IT, particularly AI, I want all of you to gear up the Scouts to embrace AI to prepare for the future in Scouting.

“Therefore, a programme in AI Scouting should be formulated and implemented. Looking ahead,  I hope to see even more exciting projects, events, and initiatives take shape in the coming year,” he said.

He said this during his officiating speech at the Scout awards presentation ceremony  at the Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce Auditorium, Batu Lintang Teachers’ Training College today.

He congratulated the award recipients for their exceptional dedication and leadership, and commended their contributions to the Scouts Association of Malaysia, Sarawak branch, and acknowledged the broader impact of their efforts on the community.
