KUCHING: Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) will be launching its GoBald 2024 on Sunday (Mar 24).
Themed ‘Beacon of Hope’, the society said this year’s theme emphasises the key role that ordinary individuals play as agents of hope for children with cancer and survivors.
The society also said the theme encourages the public to step up actions to be part of the children’s journey in their recovery from cancer.
“Register to shave your head as a public display of support and awareness to show our kids that it is alright to be bald and that they are not alone in their cancer-fighting journey,” the society said.
The GoBald 2024 live shaving event will be held at two locations namely Permaisuri Imperial City Mall in Miri on June 16 and AEON Mall Kuching Central here on June 30.
“Those opting for head-shaving must raise a minimum of RM50 to be eligible to shave their head at the main event and will get an exclusive T-shirt,” the society said.
The GoBald event is SCCS’s signature fundraiser to support children and families battling childhood in Sarawak.
It is one of the largest childhood cancer awareness events in the state and one of the few head-shaving fundraisers in the country.
“Participants can choose to raise funds only, shave their head or do both. Funds raised are directly supporting children and their families to fight cancer,” the society added.
