KUCHING: The Sarawak Teachers’ Union (STU) is wishing students sitting for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2021 examination starting today (March 2) success despite the odds facing them.
President Adam Prakash Abdullah said the students had gone through difficult times due to the COVID-19 pandemic in preparing for their examination.
“However, STU believes that the teachers have prepared their students well through hybrid classes and face-to-face interactions prior to their exams,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday (March 1).
He noted it was also understandable that some of the students would face difficulties due to the quarantine order.
“But, do not worry as they will be attended to accordingly. And we urge all parents to support their children morally so that their children can go into the exam halls confidently,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education (MoE) said that 407,907 candidates throughout the country will sit for the SPM written examinations starting today (March 2) until March 29.
These students are from the 2021 session whose examination had to be postponed last year.
The oral and practical science tests for these students were held last month.
