KUCHING: Over RM700,000 was raised from more than 2,700 donors in the GoBald 2024 programme.

According to Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) president Mary Kiu, the city recorded more than 204 participants with a collection of more than RM190,000.

She said all the donations collected through the ‘GoBald’ programme contribute about 20 per cent to 30 per cent of SCCS’ total expenditure of almost RM2 million every year.

“Registration to participate is still open to businesses, organisations, and companies that wish to partner with GoBald in raising funds for Sarawak’s childhood cancer community as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.

Interested organisations can contact SCCS at 082-686276 or email em1@sccs.org.my,” she said when officiating at the programme at AEON Mall shopping centre here on (June 30).

Kiu said 60 to 70 new childhood cancer cases are recorded in Sarawak every year, not including recurrent cases.

She said until this June, more than RM630,000 had been spent this year on medical aid alone.
