KUCHING: The Sarawak government is committed to ensuring safety and strengthening control of the border separating the state and Kalimantan.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) director Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said this was reflected when the state government handed over two Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks to the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF).

Hazani conveyed his appreciation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the generous contribution to help reduce crime along the state’s border.

“We will focus on patrolling the border with these vehicles in line with our proposal to open a patrol route between Sarawak and Kalimantan.

“I am thankful to receive the contribution from the Sarawak government which has always been concerned with the security of the state and its border,” he said after witnessing the handing over ceremony here on Monday (Apr 18).

In 2021, a total of RM726, 200 was contributed by the Sarawak government to the Sarawak GOF under the allocation of the Sarawak Securities Control Committee for logistics assistance assets.

It consists of eight units of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), Honda Wave Alpha motorcycle (16 units), Scrambler motorcycles (10 units), drones (six units), electric power generator set (19 units), Mobile Irrigation Trailer (eight units) units), tents (20 units), folding tables (20 units), plastic chairs (85 units), solar energy units (five sets) and rental houses (two units with payment until December 2021).

The assets worth RM279,400 were handed over by Office of the Premier of Sarawak’s Administration Unit chief assistant director Mohamad Nizam Wang to Hazani.

Also present were Office of the Premier of Sarawak’s Administration Unit assistant director Abdul Rahman Brahim and GOF Sarawak commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang.
