SIBU: The 10th Battalion General Operations Force (GOF) seized illegally-felled logs worth an estimate RM455,500 on Tuesday.

In a statement yesterday, the GOF team inspected a logging area in Batu 10, Jalan Sibu around 5pm during an operation codenamed Ops Libau.

“When the team arrived at the location, three workers were cutting logs, and they immediately fled after realising the presence of the team.”

The team also found one Hitachi brand excavator, one Caterpillar brand bulldozer, one Moto brand water pump and one generator (brand unknown), along with about 20 logs.

“The case is being investigated under the Sarawak Forest Ordinance 2015.”
