MIRI: Close cooperation between the federal and the state governments will bring Sarawak closer to being a developed and high income state by 2030.
In stating this, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob understood what Sarawak needs.
“Alhamdulillah, through the approach and concept of the Malaysian Family and the close cooperation that we have, it will surely strengthen the nation further and bring forth the latest development to Sarawak,” he said.
He said this at the opening of the Jalan Pujut Link Road of the Pan Borneo Highway at Permy Mall, here today.
Abang Johari said the completion of the Pan Borneo Highway would demonstrate that the government was on the right track in ensuring infrastructure development projects for the convenience of the people.
“Our goal to be a high income and developed state will soon be realised with support from the federal government.
“For this, I would like to thank the Prime Minister and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof (Senior Works Minister) for his great effort together with the Public Works Department (PWD) in ensuring that our highway is completed on schedule despite delays caused by the pandemic.
“This Pan Borneo Highway will be able to realise Sarawak’s dream to have world-class roads as what we have promised,” he said.
Also attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Fadillah, Utilities and Telecommunications Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi, Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and others.
