KUALA LUMPUR: The government is doing its best to put the country’s economy back on track and move forward, says Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin.
He said the government was working closely with the private sector and government-linked companies in addressing the matter despite the global economic challenges.
“We are doing our best to put the economy back on track and to push the economy forward so that in a very challenging global environment, we can still ensure that our economy continues to grow.
“I think the challenge is everywhere…not just in Malaysia, we talk about global challenge, we talk about trade,” he told reporters after attending the RISDA (Rubber Industry Smallholders Development Authority) Aidilfitri open house, here, today.
He was asked to comment on news reports that prominent economist Dr Jomo Kwame Sundaram had asked Malaysians to brace for tough times ahead as the economy is facing real problems amid an intractable external situation which is deteriorating almost on a daily basis.
Jomo reportedly said that these global economic challenges were beyond control and the people needed to prepare themselves for hard times ahead. – Bernama
