KUCHING: An Agriculture officer and a nursery company manager were remanded for four days today over their alleged involvement in a false claim involving the supply and delivery of 28,806 Musang King durian saplings.

The Magistrates Court here ordered the Grade 32 Agriculture Department officer, aged 46 and the 41-year-old project manager be remanded to assist in investigations under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

The court set June 28 for another mention of the case.

The two suspects were arrested on Wednesday in connection with a false claim to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) for the supply and delivery of Musang King durian saplings valued at RM999,973.60 to the Lambir state constituency which was not fully implemented but for which payment was completed.

In applying for remand, the MACC said it needed to conduct detailed investigation and obtain information on several individuals suspected of being involved in the case.
