SIBU: About 100 members of the Sarawak Government Retirees Association (PPKS) Sibu Division attended an Aidilfitri do here on Monday night (May 16).

PPKS president Julaihi Ismail said Sibu PPKS was the first to hold such an event and he was proud of the efforts made in ensuring the event’s success.

He added that without strong cooperation from all members, an activity, whether large or small, would definitely be difficult.

“That’s why I always advise retirees to continue to work with each other. Because this association belongs to all of us, and this means working as a team.

“Anything we do, we must help each other. This advice is not only for retirees in Sibu, but we should also work with members throughout Sarawak.”

He also urged retirees yet to register as members to do so to enjoy the benefits provided by the association.

In addition, he invited members to join a seminar titled ‘Towards a Knowledgeable and Caring Pensioner Community’ in Kuching set to be held on Sept 17 and 18.

Earlier, Sibu PPKS chairman Mohamad Akim said PPKS was unique because members came from all races and professions, and all had their own experiences.

“In Sibu PPKS, there are also members who are appointed as penghulu, kapitan and other community leaders who can help other members in matters related to the community and so on.”

The occasion was made merry with a host of activities, including karaoke and lucky draws.
