Government quarters in Miri broken into, police seek suspects

MIRI: A unit in the government quarters at Lot 13, Rumah Kenyalang, Jalan Tanjong Lobang, here was broken into, with police now actively searching for suspects.

Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed receiving a police report on the burglary.

Initial investigations revealed that the intruders had forcibly removed the lock on the back door to gain entry. It is believed that the intruders entered and exited through the back door, making off with stolen goods.

“The police are currently tracking witnesses and gathering statements and evidence,” ACP Alexson said.

An investigation has been opened under Section 453 of the Penal Code.

The police have also advised the public against making unverified speculations and spreading unconfirmed information on social media, as it may cause unnecessary alarm and concern within the local community.

ACP Alexson urged anyone with information related to the burglary to contact the nearest police station or call 085-433730.
