KUCHING: It is crucial that the Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development and the relevant departments under it must demonstrate preparedness, dedication, and timely action during disasters.
The departments include the Sarawak Social Welfare Department and Sarawak Women and Family Department.
Sarawak Deputy Secretary (Administration) Datuk Buckland Bangik stated that during a disaster, the affected people hold the government’s services with high expectations.
“We are currently in the Northeast Monsoon (MTL) season which typically leads to floods and landslides, and this is a concern among the responsible parties due to the prolonged rainfall.
“People have high expectations from the government during times of disaster. Therefore, it is crucial at this time for the ministry’s personnel and those under it to be prepared, committed and show timely action when going on the ground,” he said.
This was said during the Ministry’s Townhall Session at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here recently.
On another matter, he highlighted the significance of Sarawak civil servants comprehending the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which was introduced by the Sarawak government.
In line with that, he recommended the ministry’s staff to actively engage in dialogues or discussions related to PCDS 2030 to gain more understanding.
He also stressed the importance of the spirit of ‘One Team Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) in line with the previous mandate of the State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.
“All agencies, departments, government-related companies (GLC), and local authorities in the state need to work as a team in order to deliver the best services,” he said.
