KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi are expected to attend several events of the XXI Sarawak 2024 Malaysian Games (SUKMA).
According to Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, among the sports events that the Governor and wife would attend included athletics, tenpin bowling and wushu.
“I hope the secretariat can refine the sports events,” Abdul Karim said when met by the media after a courtesy visit to the Governor at Astana Negeri today.
He also informed that the purpose of the courtesy visit was to invite Wan Junaidi to officiate at the official opening of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 which will take place on August 17 at Sarawak Stadium.
Abdul Karim who is also Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts said the distribution of free entry tickets to the opening ceremony of SUKMA XXI had received such a great response, especially after seeing the distribution of the tickets during the two days it took place.
“I would like to thank the people of Sarawak for the massive support that they were willing to stand in long queues to get tickets,” he said.
Also present during the courtesy visit was Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) and chief executive officer of SUKMA XXI Datuk Hii Chang Kee and other senior ministry officials.
