KUCHING: It was a morning of excitement and heartfelt moments at Old Rex Cafe here as Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi made a surprise visit for breakfast, creating a buzz among the public.
Arriving at 8.30 am, Wan Junaidi and his wife were greeted with enthusiasm by diners who were thrilled to share their morning with such esteemed guests.
The cafe, a local institution run by Sim Kian Hock, was abuzz with joy and pride as the beloved couple chose their venue to start the day. He expressed his delight at hosting such cherished guests.
Regular visitors Muas Sebli, Ahmad Akbal Ismail, and Summa Harun were especially moved by the encounter.
Akbal shared that Old Rex Cafe, with its rich 50-year history, has long been a favourite spot for the Sarawak Governor’s breakfast outings, making this visit all the more special.
The distinguished guests spent two delightful hours savouring breakfast and reminiscing with old friends.
