KUCHING: A delegation from the National Book Development Foundation (YPBN) paid a courtesy call on the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri on Monday (June 10).
The delegation was led by chairman of the Managing Board of YPBN, Tan Sri Prof Datuk Wira Dr Abdul Latiff Abu Bakar.
During the meeting, he praised the Sarawak Governor as a knowledgeable leader and statesman who has published numerous publications and written works.
“In our discussion, we talked about conducting studies on significant figures not only at the Sarawak level, but also at the international level,” he said when met by reporters after the courtesy visit.
Abdul Latiff added that the Head of State is a ‘jewel’ from Sarawak whose life and achievements should be popularised in the form of books.
“As a legal expert and a seasoned politician, Wan Junaidi sets a remarkable example for future generations of Malaysians.
“I will consult Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to study the ideas and struggles of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi as a national figure,” he said.
On a related note, he said the discussions also touched on the upcoming National Book Award scheduled for September 12.
“We have invited Dr Wan Junaidi and we want to honour national figures at the Borneo Art and Culture Conference Award (BACA) 2024,” he said.
