KUCHING: The Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from the 2024 Gawai Dayak Dinner Committee at the Astana here today (June 14).
The courtesy visit, led by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, aimed to invite Wan Junaidi to attend the dinner on June 22.
Uggah also revealed that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Abang Openg are expected to attend the dinner.
“The committee has briefed us, and we are very pleased that Tun Dr Wan Junaidi has graciously accepted this invitation,” he said.
The courtesy visit also aimed to invite Wan Junaidi to attend the ‘Harmony Walk,’ which will take place on June 29.
“This ‘Harmony Walk’ programme will feature participants from various religious groups, and we expect 5,000 participants to join,” he said.
The ‘Harmony Walk’ is a two-kilometre walk starting from Padang Merdeka, involving the Association of Churches in Sarawak, the Malaysian Buddhist Association Sarawak Branch, the Federation of Chinese Associations Sarawak, the Sikh Temple Association Sarawak, the Sarawak Bahá’í Spiritual Assembly, the Sarawak Islamic Information Centre, and others.
