Governor, wife join over 1,500 participants at fun run

KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi joined more than 1,500 participants at a fun run this (Nov 2) morning.

Wan Junaidi and Fauziah were also invited to officiate at the Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) and the Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council’s (MAKSAK) One Team Run 2024 which was held at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) compound.

The event began with a zumba session at the Parade Square and followed by Wan Junaidi flagging off the 6-kilometre run, while Fauziah flagged off the 3-kilometre run.

This marked the first-ever joint effort between the Sarawak MAKSAK Women’s Exco and SAINS in organising the fun run.

The fun run objective is to foster an active and healthy lifestyle among State Civil Servants as well as members of SAINS and MAKSAK.

Additionally, the run aims to promote fitness and well-being among the organising members and their families.

Meanwhile, in the 6km Men’s Open Category, Amir Hakim emerged as the winner, while Siti Laila took first place in the 6km Women’s Open Category.

For the 3km Men’s Open Category, Syukri took the top spot, as Dyg Nurfaizera Awg Ahmad led in the 3km Women’s Open Category.

During the event, 10 lucky draw prizes were also presented to the lucky winners.

Among those present were Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, SAINS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam and his wife, Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon Chan, MAKSAK chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, and Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Abdul Aziz Husain.
