KUALA LUMPUR: The federal government has approved a development allocation of RM183 million this year for 49 projects and programmes in Sandakan, Sabah.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said the allocation would ensure the local economy’s continued strength and benefit nearly 400,000 residents in the district.
Projects that have been identified include the Sungai Anip flood mitigation project worth an estimated RM40 million.
“The government has also approved a RM80 million project to expand the Sandakan airport involving, among others, the extension of the runway and improving the aprons,” he said in a statement today.
Lim said other projects aimed at boosting the local economy include strengthening the palm oil industry and improving the transport network. – Bernama
