KUCHING: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong has a few harsh words for the authorities, saying SK Kenyalang has always been given a raw deal.

She said the school is rundown and many basic facilities there need repair or upgrading.

She said the sorry condition of the school showed that it had been sidelined by the Education Ministry which had failed to give it enough grant.

Yong who presented a cheque to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) yesterday held a dialogue session with the committee members.

She also inspected the toilets, which she said were in need of urgent repair.

She said she also noticed that the gutter was close to coming down due to wear and tear.

The PIBG said it was difficult for them to raise funds for the school because people were of the view that since it is a government school, the government should take care of it.
