GEDONG: The state government is committed to and sincere in developing Sarawak for the benefit of its people.

Abang Johari

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said with the collection of the revenue of more than RM3 billion from the five per cent petroleum sales tax, that revenue would be used for development projects in Sarawak.

“Unlike Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, they promised to give allocation for development projects here but they take it back. That is called ‘buruk siku’,” he said during the Pesta Gedong, at Gedong, today.

The Malay expression “buruk siku” roughly means to take back what one has given to another person.

Stressing that Parti Gabungan Sarawak (GPS) is not like PH, Abang Johari said the coalition ensures that whatever has been promised will be delivered to the people.

“The projects cancelled by the federal government include the bridges of Batang Lupar, Rambungan, and Igan. But never mind, Sarawak will take over and make sure the projects go on including the Pan Borneo Highway project,” he said.

He told the people not to worry if the PH cancels a project because Sarawak is able to stand on its own feet and can decide what is best for the people.

Anak Sarawak jangan dicuba, buaya akan keluar dan ‘nyap’ kitak (don’t challenge Sarawakians; crocodiles will devour you).

“If they (PH) don’t want to, or can’t help, no worry. Let them ‘kenak tangkap buaya’ (caught by crocodile) here.

The chief minister added that he cannot comprehend that PH said there is no fund to carry out development projects in Sarawak, but has the money to make flying cars.

Late last month, Entrepreneur Development Minister Mohd Redzuan Yusof revealed plans to launch a flying car.

He said the prototype of the vehicle will be unveiled later this year.

The vehicle will cost about RM1 million to develop and will fly at low altitudes.

Mohd Redzuan did not reveal further details.
