KUCHING: There is no issue of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) being afraid of improvement to the electoral system, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

“We welcome all efforts to improve the electoral system as long as it’s fair and just,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune on Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Supreme Council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan questioning the state government being afraid of changes in the electoral system.

On Thursday, Electoral Reform Committee (ERC) member Wong Chin Huat was barred from entering Sarawak — he was reported to be on his way from Kuala Lumpur to attend a workshop in Kuching regarding the Sarawak election.

He then shared his thoughts on his Facebook page on being stopped at Kuching International Airport (KIA).

Abdul Karim who is also Youth and Sports Minister said being an ERC member does not grant immunity from being barred from entering the state.
